FAQs
-
Labour, birth and becoming a parent is one of the most significant experiences of your life. Research suggests that parents who attend antenatal education are more likely to have a positive birth experience, feeling better prepared to understand their options, navigate challenges and make informed decisions along the way.
Learning from a practicing New Zealand registered midwife means you'll receive trusted, evidence-based information and a realistic understanding of what birth can look like. Rather than relying on social media, conflicting advice or the birth stories of others, you'll gain the knowledge and confidence to approach pregnancy, birth and early parenthood feeling informed, prepared and empowered.
-
Most parents start antenatal education during the third trimester, ideally between 28–36 weeks of pregnancy. This gives you plenty of time to absorb the information, discuss your options with your support person, and prepare for labour, birth and life with your baby.
For our in-person classes, the suggested due dates listed on our booking page are simply a guide to help parents join a group with others at a similar stage of pregnancy. You're welcome to book into whichever class best suits your schedule and availability.
If you're planning to complete one of our online antenatal courses, it's never too early to begin. Many parents choose to start in the second trimester and work through the content at their own pace. With 12 months of access, you'll be able to revisit important topics whenever you need a refresher throughout pregnancy and after your baby arrives.
-
